Indicative prices by size
| System | Turnkey, with 23% VAT | Per kWp, with VAT |
|---|---|---|
| 3 kWp | €4,500 to €6,000 | €1,500 to €2,000 |
| 4 kWp | €5,500 to €7,500 | €1,375 to €1,875 |
| 5 kWp | €6,500 to €9,000 | €1,300 to €1,800 |
A battery is extra: Bave Energy lists €3,500 to €4,500 for 5 kWh and €6,500 to €8,500 for 10 kWh, without saying whether VAT is included. Ask for the battery as its own line in the quote.
Why the north pays back more slowly
The same kWp produces less in the north. PVGIS gives these yields for a south facing 1 kWp system at 35° tilt:
Annual yield per kWp, PVGIS
A system in Ponte de Lima produces about 18% less than the same system in Faro. National calculators that use one average figure flatter the north.
Work out your own payback
Payback is the price divided by what the system saves each year. The saving has two parts: the electricity you use yourself, valued at the price per kWh on your bill, and the surplus, which on a fixed contract sold for about €0.05 per kWh in 2026.

Our savings calculator does this arithmetic for you. To get real prices, ask for quotes and compare them on the four numbers.
- Are quotes in 2026 with 6% or 23% VAT?
- 23%. The reduced 6% rate ended on 30 June 2025.
- What is a fair price per kWp?
- The 2026 averages with VAT run from €1,500 to €2,000 per kWp for a 3 kWp system down to €1,300 to €1,800 for 5 kWp: larger systems cost less per kWp.
