Solar panels and batteries, in Portugal

Compare solar quotes on the four numbers that matter.

Answer twelve questions about the house. We send your request to up to three installers who meet our criteria and ask each of them for the same format, so you can compare side by side. You pay Minho Solar nothing.

Free, no obligation. Your details only go to installers with your permission, at the end of the form.

The four numbers

Two quotes can be €600 apart and still not describe the same system. We ask every installer for these four numbers, so you can put the quotes side by side.

  1. Total kWp, not the panel count

Twelve panels at 400 W is 4.8 kWp. Twelve at 550 W is 6.6 kWp. That is 38% more capacity behind the same panel count.

    12 × 400 W = 4.8 kWp

    12 × 550 W = 6.6 kWp

  2. Price per kWp

Divide the price by the capacity. The €7,200 quote works out cheaper per kWp than the €6,600 one, because it carries more capacity.

    €6,600 ÷ 4.8 kWp = €1,375/kWp

    €7,200 ÷ 6.6 kWp = €1,091/kWp

  3. Usable battery capacity

The ADENE and DGEG guide advises using most batteries only between about 20% and 80% of charge, so they last longer. Set up that way, a 10 kWh battery gives about 6 kWh. Compare on the usable kWh, in writing.

    10 kWh on the label

    about 6 kWh usable

  4. Warranty years for each part, in writing

Panels, inverter, battery and installation carry separate warranties. For panels, ADENE and DGEG advise at least 80% of the power guaranteed after 25 years.

    Panels: at least 80%

    of power at 25 years

How it works

  1. 1

    Answer twelve questions

House, roof, bill and timing. Quick choices, no writing required.

  2. 2

We send your request to up to three installers

Only to installers who meet our criteria and work in your area. You choose how many: one, two or three.

  3. 3

    The installers contact you

By site visit, video call or phone, as you prefer. We ask each of them for a quote with the four numbers.

  4. 4

    Choose one, or none

The contract is between you and the installer. You are not committed to anyone.

What it costs, and who pays us

For you, nothing.

Installers pay Minho Solar €150 + IVA when a customer we sent them signs a contract. If the customer does not sign, the installer pays nothing.

The amount is the same for every installer and does not change with the size or the price of the system. We earn no more if the system is bigger.

We also sell a paid report on your house, the Blueprint, from €45. It is optional and you do not need it to ask for quotes.

How it works and how we are paid

What we ask of installers

  • Proof that they are a recognised installation company or responsible technician, with the number, as ERSE asks owners to check.
  • Current public liability insurance.
  • A written quote with the four numbers.
  • A written installation warranty that states its term.
  • First contact with you within two working days.

What we do not do

  • We do not install or sell equipment.
  • We do not guarantee the work. The contract and the warranty are the installer's.
  • Our installer network is still small. In some areas you may get fewer than three quotes, or none. If so, we tell you by email.
  • We have no customer reviews to show yet. That is why we publish the criteria instead.
