English-speaking solar advisor in Portugal
Most solar advisors and installers in Portugal operate only in Portuguese. Minho Solar advises entirely in English — because that is how we live here ourselves.
English-speaking solar advisor in Portugal: Minho Solar is an independent advisory run by English-speaking homeowners in the Ponte de Lima area. We are not a call centre or a translation service bolted onto a sales operation. We work in English because that is how we communicate ourselves, and because the expats who need honest solar advice in Northern Portugal deserve it in a language they can actually understand.
What “independent” actually means
Independent means we charge you a flat fee for our analysis, not a commission on your system. The installers we recommend are chosen on merit for your specific project, not a sales relationship. There is no reason for us to recommend a larger system, a battery you do not need, or a specific installer over another. We work for you, not for them.
The Blueprint report
A written analysis of your property entirely in English: recommended system size, realistic cost range for Northern Portugal, payback period using local PVGIS data for the Minho, and an honest battery recommendation for your specific usage pattern.
Vetted installer introductions
Two or three installer names matched to your project. You contact them directly, you pay them directly, and we take zero referral fee. We recommend on merit: technical competence, familiarity with your area, and track record on similar properties.
DGEG and paperwork in plain English
The DGEG registration process is entirely in Portuguese and takes 30–90 days. We explain every step and confirm who handles what — so you do not arrive at the end of an installation only to find you are responsible for the registration yourself.
We are based in the Ponte de Lima area of the Alto Minho — not a remote operation with a Portuguese address. We know the local installers, we know the irradiance conditions in this part of the country, and we have been through the DGEG process ourselves. If you are buying a property or already living in Braga, Viana do Castelo, Barcelos, Guimarães, or anywhere in the wider Minho region, that local knowledge is part of what you get.
